Do you know that my village of Aÿ (only 5 min. from Epernay and 35 min. from Reims) was the main center of the Champagne industry and has a very special place ? The kings of France had their own presses there from the 16th century. Its historic hillsides are classified as World Heritage by UNESCO and the vineyard is classified Grand cru. You will also visit all the other famous 1st Cru villages and vineyards with exceptional panoramas around Aÿ : Mutigny and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ (Mont du Gruguet) and taste the 3 local spirits : Ratafia, Fine and Marc. We will meet a family of independent producer/grower who will open the doors of their cellar to discover the Champagne making process and their specificities, which will be followed by a tasting of 3 Champagnes. Do you know who Dom Pérignon really is? I will show you in the vineyards where the first Champagne cellars he dug is located and we will go then thank him in the church where he officiated during 40 years and where he rests.
