Things to do in  La Fortuna

This was a great tour. Isaac was incredible! We saw the volcano, the waterfall and the hot springs. Amazing time! Best deal in la fortuna!

Raúl and Joel were both amazing. Had such a wonderful day, even with the rain!! Couldn't recommend this day tour more highly, especially if only in La Fortuna for a short time. Jam packed with 3 memorable activities.

Raul was a great tour guide. He was very informative, was nice, and had a lot of energy. The lookout point for the volcano was beautiful and so was the La Fortuna waterfall.

Amazing full day experience! Mauricio, our guide was so knowledgeable and really went above and beyond about teaching our group about the jungle ecosystems, flora and fauna. We enjoyed a delicious Costa Rican lunch after our visit to the la Fortuna waterfall. Do this tour, you will not regret it! Thanks again Maurcio and Red Lava!!

We had a great time on the river cruise. We saw a ton of animals and wild life. Juan Carlos was an amazing guide for us and our two boys (10 and 7 years old). Highly recommended excursion as an alternative to the other adventurous things to do in LA Fortuna.

We had no idea what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised!!! Our guide was super knowledgeable and help us to see the sloths! You have to go if you are in Costa Rica anywhere near La Fortuna!!!

We chose the hanging bridges and the La Fortuna waterfall. Both were incredible and our guide David was great! He found such joy in showing us everything. He even got word where a sloth was off the side of the road and we made an impromptu stop to observe for a bit. The tour company was wonderful as we left a personal belonging on the shuttle and it was returned. Thanks for the great day!

We had an amazing trip to Costa Rica- getting to see both La Fortuna and Tamarindo and all the beautiful things it had to offer. We loved getting to relax on our own time / schedule - using private transport was so worth it. Robin was SO kind and professional and even had snacks, water, wifi, and stop options for us along the way. He went above and beyond in making sure we were comfortable and provided great tips for the travel as well. Thank you, would definitely book again!! Hands down book this trip with Natural Adventures! Also very safe driver who is bilingual.

The La Fortuna waterfall was incredible. A long walk back up, but well worth it to jump in that cool water at the bottom. The entire trip was fantastic - thanks Erica (guide) and Joel (driver)!!

Probably the best part of our time in La Fortuna! This tour was amazing - definitely come on an empty stomach. We booked a chocolate tour but I’d call this more of a farm tour (fruit and chocolate). We walked around the farm learning about the different plants and tasting the different fruits. Honestly it was so delicious - best fruit ever! We had bananas, soursop, mango, orange, sugarcane, etc and that was before we even got to the chocolate. Lastly, we walked through the chocolate side of the farm and got to see the process of making chocolate - from drying the beans to crushing them into paste. To end the tour we were all given hot chocolate, coffee, biscuits and chocolate they made themselves. It was all delicious! This was such a highlight of our trip - we even got to see a baby sloth as well as a hummingbird nest with baby birds. Do yourself a favor and book this tour - you won’t regret it!

This tour was nothing short of amazing!!! I booked this tour for me and my husband as a part of his birthday trip to Costa Rica. Our Driver Edgardo and our tour guide Francisco were amazing!!! We started the morning on time with pick up at our hotel in La Fortuna. Our group started with 10 people but due to people booking different tour options we mostly had 6 people in our tour group which was perfect. The transportation van was very clean and they followed mask protocols appropriately while inside of the vehicle. We arrived at Arenal Volcano to start our hike, which was amazing. Francisco was very passionate and knowledgeable about the events of The Arenal Volcano along with the wildlife in the area. He was able to identify different species of birds that we encountered as well as snakes, sloth’s and howler monkeys that we heard during the hike. We hiked around Arenal for about 2 hours. The hike is not unmanageable but it is slightly demanding in some areas due to steep inclines or stairs. We were offered walking sticks made from bamboo that helped tremendously. After our hike we enjoyed a refreshing snack of fresh watermelon and pineapple which were tasty. There was bottled water provided for us through the entire trip. Once arriving at the Fortuna waterfall, check in was easy, the trek down the 500 stairs is a bit tiring on the knees but the waterfall was well worth the walk!! It was simply beautiful! Many people swam but beware the rocks in the water are slippery. Water shoes would help. The walk up the stairs is challenging but there are many places to take breaks. After the waterfall we enjoyed a delicious lunch at the rainforest explorers ranch. Lunch was filling and delicious. We were served beverages of water, a mixed fruit juice with pineapple star fruit and passion fruit, fresh coffee that was amazing! And we had cheesecake for dessert and sampled chocolate made by Edgardo and his wife. We then took a ride to the Hanging bridges. The walk through the park is another workout but we had great views on the bridges. Francisco pointed out more wildlife and doubled as an amazing photographer during the entire trip. My Husband and I ended our evening at the Ecotermales hot springs, enjoying a buffet dinner and drinks. The pools there range in temperature but all felt great! It was an amazing was to end the day. Edgardo and is wife picked up at the end of our evening and dropped us back to our hotel. Do not let the price of this tour discourage you, it is worth every penny and you can not find better guides that are as passionate as their work than Francisco was!

We thoroughly enjoyed our Safari Float and saw so much wildlife! We were lucky enough to see sloths, crocodiles, turtles, howler monkeys, and many different species of birds on the way. Our guide Marcus was super-friendly and extremely knowledgeable in identifying all the species of animals and answering our questions about them. He was also great at spotting things that we would never have even noticed - very impressive! The snack at the end was also a lovely touch and exceeded our expectations! Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting La Fortuna! Thanks for the great experience guys! :)

We did Balsa River White Water Rafting with two kids and it was one of the best activities in La Fortuna. Our tour guide Colon was awesome. We enjoyed this activity so much. This company is great.

Incredible guides and such a wonderful way to see the volcano! Includes entrance to the hanging bridges park, so you can take that walk on your own, making the entire day a complete steal! Best thing we did in La Fortuna.

so awesome! the zipline course went over the la fortuna waterfall! the river rafting was also wonderful, some exciting parts and lovely scenery. would definitely do it again

Erica was a fantastic guide! This tour was a perfect way to see all the top sights in 1 day at a good pace (not too slow, not too rushed) in a variety of activities. Appreciated the explanation of nature, history, geography and economics of the Arenal / La Fortuna area. Highly recommend!

We were glad we went on this tour. We got the history and to see the sights but might be a little pricy for what it is. Since we were staying near the volcano we wanted to learn about it but google would have done just as good. You must see la fortuna waterfall for sure as it is beautiful!!

Best bang for your buck in la fortuna! 7 zip lines and awesome rafting. Includes line by the waterfall. Xtra perks including butterfly exhibit, frog exhibit, native tribe visit, and sugar cane explanation and taste. The rafting started class 3 then got easier. Great staff at both companies.
