True, you heard it right. Ljubljana is a beautiful old town with centuries-old historic buildings, narrow streets, beautiful Baroque churches and monuments, numerous street cafes and restaurants. But Ljubljana is more than that. There are also buildings and areas in the center of town that once served military or manufacturing purposes and were abandoned due to contemporary political, social and economic circumstances. Since then these areas have been populated by squatters, artists and bohemians, who have turned them into zones of creativity, liberal thought, solidarity with marginalized social groups and into zones of independent arts. Join us on this tour, where we visit alternative parts of town, and we also walk through the old town past the sights that testify to the rich history of the city from the ancient Romans through the Middle Ages to the present.

This is the original alternative tour of Ljubljana. It is filled with alternative cultures, indie lifestyles, and graffiti and street art. This walking tour showcases the most colourful places and spaces in town like Metelkova, Rog Factory, ŠKUC gallery and Alkatraz gallery. It includes stories of local rebellion from the World War 2 Liberation Front to contemporary subcultures, and explores issues such as urban art, ecology, LGBTQ history, symbolic resistance, political art and radical ideas.

⚠ CAUTION! This is NOT a typical city tour full of boring data, history facts and rigid itinirary. Yes, we will walk by the most important and interesting tourist attractions and make stops there, but we will mostly focuse on Ljubljana and its local life from today's point of view. 3 hour long tour gives you a deeper knowledge of Ljubljana and includes over 20 most interesting and important landmarks. Travel through time and visit Emona, the Roman city that was later the foundation for the modern city of Ljubljana. Observe the art, philosophy and symbolism behind the masterworks of the great architect Jože Plečnik. Discover many parks and green spaces that make our city one of the greenest in the world. Follow the trail of our city's heritage, historical events, architecture and people that influenced the development of Ljubljana and its infrastructure. On the way we will take a break for a complimentary coffee and cake at our favorite local café (Špica cafe, Lolita, Vrt Lili Novy or kavarna Rog). Along the way enjoy the music, graphic street arts of Metelkova and the museum of art.

THE CASTLE RUN Our goal is to make our way up to and back from the historic, Ljubljana castle. Although we have some uphill running in the first half of the tour, the magnificent city view we experience from the castle makes it all worthwhile. Before we start the ascent, we will visit park Tivoli to see the exhibition of large-format photographs, open throughout the year. We take a different route to and from the castle, so manage to explore all of the city's major attractions, like the works of the famous 20th-century architect Jože Plečnik, Dragon bridge, Prešeren Square, Central market, Robba Fountain and many more… We will take care of the route, but you are in charge of the pace :)

Not only the main attractions, located in the pedestrian zone, but an unique opportunity to cover a wider area without skipping the cozy stops where locals enjoy soaking up the city vibe.
