Sunny day cycling in Cotes de Beaune
John_D
, Jun 2022
We’ve been on lots of wine tours but this was the best. Cycling through the beautiful idyllic cotes de beaune vineyards and villages. Mostly downhill! We had a nice small group and an excellent guide in Paul who grew up in the area and was very helpful with his knowledge and in looking after our group. We had three tastings including one large vigneron and one small family one giving us different views of how the region operates. Lunch was very good in a nice small local restaurant. All in all a very lovely day in Bourgogne. We highly recommend this tour.
Great views, even better wine.

Recommended for biking - not so much for the wine

Really glad I went.
Great wines in the morning. Consensus wines were so-so in the afternoon. Whole afternoon tour was in French despite my guide requesting English. Guide wanted to discuss him being anti-mask anti-vax. Kinda killed the mood. Really enjoyed the electric bike despite being a cyclist. Super accessible route for all levels. Great scenery. Very knowledgeable guide.
One of the most magical experiences of our lives

This bike tour was one of the most magical experiences of our trip, indeed our lives! We cannot describe how wonderful the sensations were of zipping through the beautiful tiny Burgundy villages and vineyards. Our tour guide, Theo, was fun, funny, and informative. He made the whole day an experience to remember. The wines were wonderful, the "light" lunch was delicious, and the bike ride was a great way to exercise and experience the beauty of this area. Highly recommended!!!

This was a beautiful day spent riding through the vineyards with Cedric as our guide. He was wonderful & patient with us as there were a few hills to negotiate. Mostly it was downhill. His wine knowledge was excellent & our wine tasting & lunch were really good. Highly recommended & a big thanks to Cedric.

Biking through Beaune

Theo was an amazing guide , very knowledgable and kind. The scenery was amazing and the amount if biking just right. My only criticism was a glass of wine and coffee not being included with lunch. The tour is very expensive and then you are obliged topurchase very expensive wine at the restaurant. We got to the second vineyard in the afternoon a bit late and did not feel verywelcome at first. Overall a great day but not quite worth what it cost.

Thanks for your feed back. Burgundy is very expensive, this is by the way the most expensive wine in the world... That's also why we do not include the wine at lunch to leave the freedom to try what you want. And sorry for the attitude of the winemaker, it's out of our control. Sure that after the harvest wine makers are less patient, but we choose to work with small authentic wineries.
Great tour

This was a perfect way to really get up close and personal with the vineyards and villages of the area.
We were 2 people and the pace was great with Jean-Michelle as our guide. We saw a bigger winery and a smaller village one so great to have the comparison.
Lunch was fabulous in a lovely village Puligny-Montrachet. It was so nice we went back the next day and had a leisurely two hour lunch fulll menu.
So glad we did this trip

This is the absolute best way to experience Burgundy! Our guide, Guillaume, was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting facts about the local area, viticulture, and the wine-making process during the ride. The most interesting and eye-opening part of the trip for me was comparing wines from the towns we had just ridden through - the difference in taste from grapes grown just a few kilometers apart was astounding and really helped explain the importance of terroir to Burgundy wine. The route we took was on quiet country roads and bike paths, and passed through gorgeous villages like Orches, La Rochepot, and Meursault where we were able to stop and take lots of photos. My husband and I both agreed that this just wouldn't have been the same experience if we had driven. We're already planning to come back next fall to ride through the vineyards when they change color!

We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator. Before publication, each review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information for each of the following criteria: who, what, how, and when. If the system detects something that contradicts our publication criteria, the review is not published. When the system detects a problem with a review, it may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site. In some cases, we will also send you an email asking you to validate your review before it is published. All you need to do is click on the link provided in the email. After publication, our team checks each review reported to it as not meeting our publication criteria. Tripadvisor reviews that appear on the Viator site are subject to the same checks and moderation processes as set out above. It is not necessary to have booked an experience through Viator (or Tripadvisor) to submit a review of an experience to the Tripadvisor site.
