Lucas did a fantastic job of showing our group of about 20 people historic sites, street art, and places of interest as we walked around the current cultural center of Bristol. He projects his voice very well so is easy to hear. He showed us the pub where Blackbeard used to drink, which is still in operation. He showed us the tavern where a man walked outside and told his true story of being shipwrecked for four years and how a man in the crowd (Daniel Defoe) ran home to write Robinson Crusoe. He showed us the house where Robert Louis Stevenson wrote Treasure Island. He showed us where John Cabot set sail on the Matthew in 1497 to discover Newfoundland, part of modern day Canada. A replica of the Matthew floats nearby and is open to the public. Very enjoyable and informative tour.

Simon was an excellent tour guide and overall the tour was interesting with facts about Bristol and its reasons for fame, and some interesting history relating to the trading history and slavery. However the tour title had implied far more that one Banksy (which we had already found) and 2 JPS, and 4 other pieces (that were hard to miss). As for the pirate connection...well myth and truth were very muddled. We felt very let down for the topic and lack of art or pirates.
