Great trip to Blarney

This was such a great tour! Cash was our cheeky guide who loved to crack jokes and gave us some good history. It is a 3 hour drive to Cork, but you stop about half way to see the Rock of Cashel, and then on to Cork for lunch. We went to Gallagher’s and the roast in a bun was one of the best meals I had in Ireland. We drove to Blarney Castle, which includes all the land, gardens, and lake around it. Honestly you could spend a whole day here, but unfortunately you only get two hours and even more unfortunately you spend about an hour and 15 mins waiting in line to kiss the Blarney Stone. However, it is worth it in my opinion! It is at the top of the Blarney Castle and you have to bend over backwards and upside down to kiss it over an open hole (which does have a couple of bars l below, bars to hang on to, and a man to hold you). If you’re scared of heights, this WILL be terrifying, but if you can make it through, it’s also an exciting experience!! We were running late to the bus and Cash did not leave us, so don’t believe him if he says he’ll leave you behind ;). It’s a straight shot back after a long day so most people just sleep. You’ll have to ask Cash about the time he saved a drowning fish.

Brilliant and would do it again

The tour is brilliant and largely self-guided which suited me and my partner. We were given ample time at each site with plenty of breaks during the drive. Paul, our knowledgeable guide/ driver had a great sense of humour, imparting insights as we approached each site. Thoroughly smooth ride too.

Our unbelievably good looking and entertaining driver Cash was a hell hell of a tour guide. When my feet got sore he tamed a wild pony and made it carry me all the way up to the rock of cashel. Thank you Cash, your friends from Austria will never forget!

Interesting and great guide but bad toming

It was a great tour to visit these places. The driver/guide was very informative and funny. We had fun listening to his jokes. The places were interesting. Now, I am rating it with 4 stars for one reason: the time allowed to visit the different areas of a site (like going up the castle and walking the gardens) is not enough. You have to pick and choose what you want to see in those 2 1/2 hours because you will not see it all and perhaps not even 50% of it. Just consider that going up the castle to see the stone can take you one hour. A minimum of 3 hours would be necessary to have a reasonable view of everything. To see it ALL you would need 5 or6 hours depending on your pace. Other than this time inconvenience, it was an entertaining tour.

Good tour but very unorganized start.

The only issue we had was that the app and instructions told us one address. We paid for a taxi and he dropped us off there. At that location, their office told us we needed to walk to a different location.(my wife has an injured foot so walking can be a little difficult) one at the new location, locals told us that the bus would not meet us here, but instead down the road just a bit. No markings and nothing to tell us anything. A few other people showed up and we were all very confused. None of the phone numbers would answer so none of us knew what was happening. Just a few minutes after our scheduled departure time, the bus did show up. He ended up making a second pick up back at the original location our taxi sent us to. Just frustrating that the tour company office didn’t even know where the bus would be to get us. Lots and f additional effort on our behalf for no reason at all. The driver was very nice but also very politically motivated in his speaking. But he did sing a few songs to us.

Enjoyed the Rock of Cashel and Blarney Castle trip but it was a very rushed. I suggest skipping lunch in Cork. There are opportunities to get food at the Blarney Castle which would have taken much less time. Cork is a big city and the traffic was horrible. No real reason to stop there. Lunch was rushed but I will say the food was very good. Did not have time to see much of the gardens at Blarney castle as we opted to climb the castle steps and kiss the Blarney Stone which took nearly an hour. Also would have loved more shopping time at the Woolen Mill. Our driver/guide was great. Two issues- the meeting point was confusing as the email gave two options and apparently many of us took the wrong option. They did reroute the bus to pick us up at the main office where several of us thought we were supposed to be picked up. Secondly, we took on several more passengers at Blarney castle for the trip back to Dublin which made the bus very crowded and there was some tension getting seats figured out for everyone. I do recommend This tour but would strongly suggest skipping Cork and allowing more time at Blarney castle.

Disappointing
Bernice_T
, Jun 2022
Driver didn't tell us any info about anything. Wasn't a real tour of anything, more of a here you are, go walk around and be back by a certain time. Not enough time at Blarney for the stone, grounds, and Woolen Mills, with too much time stuck in Cork in the rain. Time wasted on extra pit stops and moving people around on buses who were doing overnight stays for the 2 day trips. Had to take them to their B & Bs. No WiFi on in the bus/van. Got us back an hour later than scheduled so we couldn't get dinner at our hotel or most places. Rushed to get a pizza, just as the place was closing at 10pm.

It was an ok tour

I felt the trip was a bit too long and the sites to short for a good viewing. Needed more time at each location. The climb up to Blarney Stone was very steep for this older couple.

Sass, our tour guide, was wonderful. He was funny and very informative. The tour was great! ✨️ Even though it was raining the castles were beautiful. Cork was great, lots of shopping. We could have used a little more time there because once you walk over there isn't a lot of time to eat and shop.

Tour guides making political statements is unacceptable
BobbiL_J
, Jun 2022
It was a good day trip however, the tour guide Paul of Paddywagon Tours made comments about political matters, taking guns away from people and the Ukraine situation as well as a negative comment pertaining to Trump and the United States. . I did not purchase a tour to have the tour guide take the opportinity to make political opinions. Please let Paddywagon tours know this is not acceptable.
