We loved everything, the falls, the clifs, the black sands, the local shops, we also liked Justin's knowledge of the area. Things that were important to the locals. We would recommend this trip to everyone. It was amazing.
Had an outstanding guide, Jay. He was extremely knowledgeable and a skilled driver :), and lots of fun. It was great to not worry about driving, and we learned tons of interesting history. On top of amazing scenery, the state park black sand beach was fabulous! Great waterfall/pool stop, as well. We stopped for delicious snacks and coffee outside Hana, and appreciated plenty of rest room breaks. So glad we did this full day tour!
Lepa and Jason were GREAT!!! The trip exceeded our expectations. What a great way to see everything and learn from the people who know the island the best! Thank u! And congrats to Jason for taking the plunge.
We had an amazing trip with our guide Malia! She was super on it with scheduling and getting us out there ahead of the other groups so that we had the max time at each stop with the fewest other groups crowding us:). She was SUPER knowledgeable about all of the locations along the way and shared a great amount of Hawaiian cultural history with us which we greatly appreciated! For first timers looking to take the Road to Hana, this is the only way to do it. There is so much to see and so many other drivers on this twisty-turny road with many single lane crossings that any driver will miss so much just paying attention to the road. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone (especially with Malia as your guide). Mahalo Nui Loa!!
Excellent 😎 driver went above and beyond and took us to a lot of nice spots and also shared her funny and entraining stories. The road is narrow and if ure not familiar it’s dangerous. Book the trip. You will love it 😍 . Highlight of the trip was black sand beach and the crater
If I could give this a “10” I would. This was nothing short of fantastic and well worth the expense. We lucked out with an excellent driver/tour guide! Lisa made the experience! Request Lisa!! She made everyone comfortable, brought us to so many wonderful stops I for sure would have driven by or not made it to on my own. She knew many locals, shared her vast knowledge of the island and the area for the entire trip! This is a don’t miss! My kids 13/16 absolutely loved this and said “we experienced so much in just one day!” In summary, one lane roads, bridges from 1919, hidden caves, bamboo passages, rainbow bamboo, black sand beach, native trees / fruits galore. Tasted Sandi’s banana bread, fresh coconut meat, fresh watermelon papaya, freshly made chocolate (that morning), waterfalls galore, swam in a fresh water pond with a falling waterfall, scenic overlooks. Wow what a day! Lisa knew all the stops, was very flexible, took us to the cleanest rest stops possible. Thank you Lisa, we will never forget this! ~ Mahalo!
This tour was such an amazing experience! We got to visit some beautiful spots and some local places for chocolate, banana bread and coconut ice cream! Malia was an amazing tour guide and driver! She was so knowledgeable of the island and it’s history. She was so nice and went out of her way to make sure we had a great time and experienced everything we could! I’m so impressed with her driving since there were tight and winding roads to Hana! Thank you so much for a great experience!
The tour was okay. I loved going to the black sand beach to swim and to the waterfall. It started off fun and ended on a sour note. I did NOT like going to the Kava bar. I felt pressured into buying a shot and then a drink. Paying over $100 for four bad shots and four bad drinks is not okay. I would have preferred that we were given 30-40 minutes to explore the town of Paia. I get that our tour guide/driver was into this but this was a stretch to bring 10 people to such a place. Our tour guide/driver seemed really unhappy with people who drove their own cars which I can understand. I just wish he focused more on some interesting facts about Hana instead of other drivers.
This excursion was great and well worth it. Marty out guide was the best very knowledgeable, funny and friendly. We had a great experience, this trip is a must do. Everything was beautiful and we really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you Marty!
Shalea is the sweetest tour guide ever. She lived in Hana most of her life and she knows her way around. She took us to several off the grid sights and told us the wonderful stories behind them. Shalea is wonderful!
I highly recommend this tour! We had such a great time & we learned so much! Our tour guide was filled with information & was very nice. Road to Hana is much better with a tour guide. The road seems pretty dangerous to drive yourself & you do not want to be the dumb tourist stopping your car where you’re not supposed to in order to take a picture in the middle of the road! Also I recommend bringing water shoes since they make it much easier to walk on the black sand beach & to get into the waterfall.
