Disappointing food!!
Sandra_D
, Jul 2022
Most of the 5-star reviews mentioned Brian and Cynthia…where were they? I have to assume the let down of our experience was that Isabella doesn’t know good food or how to pick an order of tour. We had been on this tour for an hour and the only food we had was a bite she had brought from somewhere with her and given at the start of the tour. We did get a fair amount of history and saw parks. Most of our stops were places where you would have gotten a free sample anyway. The fortune cookie spot was interesting, but it was a fortune cookie. We stopped at a great little tea spot…the host was talkative and she was trying to rush us out the door before we sampled tea. We stopped at a “Grant Place Restaurant” where she had taken guests for a bathroom break. It was exactly like a gas station bathroom…dirty, broken, and smelled like piss…then she took us there to eat!!! She left to go order something for people who were leaving the tour early and took their food to the bathroom with her…yuck! The food at the restaurant was some of the worst I’ve ever had. I’ve traveled all over the world and have eaten high end and low end…this was no where close to a hidden gem I expected to get on a walking tour. We stopped at a chocolate place that was good while she went to get cannoli…so we don’t even know where that was. We finished the trip at a pizza place that wasn’t terrible, but was also no hidden gem. I expected from a walking tour to pop in and out of places with a single bite of a few things at each stop set up for us. I also expected this to be the excellent little known local places. I could have done better without wasting my time or $150 on a tour.

I apologize for your experience. As our other reviews indicate, most of our guests enjoy great food in abundant quantities, from a wide variety of places, along with an excellent tour of the area. On a typical tour, our guests enjoy a variety of food, such as Peking duck, dumplings, steamed BBQ pork buns, moon cakes, Siu Mai, pot stickers, chocolate, cannoli, pizza, wine, and more. We hold our stops to the highest standards and it is completely unacceptable when any part of a stop, including restrooms, do not meet our standards. We insist that our stops meet or exceed our guest’s expectations. We are taking immediate actions, including a complete inspection, to ensure that all of our stops meet our standards, or the stop will be removed from the tour. Could you call me at 415 665-0480, email me at tmedin@sffoodtour.com or message me through Viator, so I can get more details on what occurred and ensure that all of our future guests have an exceptional experience. Again, I sincerely apologize for your experience.

The Best Food Tour in San Fransico
Allison_T
, May 2022
This tour allows you to sample the best food San Francisco has to offer. From the rich history that our guide, Brian shared, to the carefully selected food we partook in, each moment was a delight. We had another commitment and had to leave early. Tom, the owner, reached out to us and let us know that the next day's tour was full but they would be happy to feed us pizza and wine at the last tour stop at the end of the day. The owner went above and beyond for us. We were amazed at this act of customer service. We ate so much delicious food on this tour, easily two large meals worth. Our guide Brian was knowledgeable, personable, attentive and had a great sense of humor. Every stop was better than the last. I promise you won't be disappointed in booking this tour! It was the best!

Our tour guide, Cynthia, was awesome. We have been on 3 food tours elsewhere and this tour had, by far, the best selection of foods.

Yummy Food, History, and Fun Facts!
Nagisa_Y
, May 2022
For my birthday, my family and I drove out from the East Bay to do the walking food tour through Chinatown and North Beach. I thought it was a splurge, but for the amount of food we got, seamlessly arranged by our guided, and accompanied by her witty historical commentary, the experience was totally worth it. Even our teenage children, put down their cell phones for the duration of the tour, and wished they could have a history like Lauren, our tour guide!

Chinatown to North Beach - Chinese food to Italian Fun combination!

, Apr 2022
Our guide was so well versed in both food and San Francisco history and tradition. She was well-spoken, fun and interesting. The food choices were very interesting and good. The Chinatown-North Beach (Italian) combination was really good. Ample food and entertainment! No one could have gone away hungry!

This is one of my favorite tours! I enjoyed the smaller tour as it provided us the ability to enjoy the setting and ask questions as needed. We saw so many things that we normally wouldn’t if we decided to tour this area on our own. Thanks Isabella for making this great!

Lauren was our tour guide and she was fantastic. She brought the tour to life with a mix of history, personal experiences, and of course the amazing food. One of our favorite stops was the tea shop. It was so cool to learn about tea from somebody so passionate.

Fun and yummy tout

We always like to take a food tour when we visit a city. I found this one and it sounded like fun! We took an Uber from our hotel to the meeting spot which was easy to find. Tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable about China Town and San Francisco. His stories were interesting and the variety of the food we sampled was good and plentiful. I would recommend this tour to my family and friends!

History tour with some Food, Not a food tour
Marc_G
, Mar 2022
This wasn’t really a food tour punctuated by history. It was a history tour punctuated by food. Was expecting to learn more about the culinary treats in the two areas. We past so many places that would have been good to stop in an try what they were known for, but we past them by. It also ran very late and was 5 hours which was longer than advertised and almost half our tour had to leave because of how late it was running. Highlight was the tea shop. That was a ton of fun. The owner was really entertaining and engaging. After 5 hours we left hungry and went to dinner.
icon Response from Host , Mar 2022
I apologize for your experience. The tour is normally about four hours and we’re looking into what occurred, as well as the amount of food stops on the tour. On a typical tour, our guests enjoy a variety of food, such as Peking duck, dumplings, steamed BBQ pork buns, moon cakes, Siu Mai, pot stickers, chocolate, cannoli, pizza, wine, and more. We want every part of the tour, from the food to the history, to the neighborhood stops to be exceptional. Being from San Francisco, we feel honored when anyone joins us on our tour. Could you contact me at 415-665-0480, message me through Viator or email me at tmedin@sffoodtour.com, so I can get some information about your experience and ensure that all parts of the tour are incredible? Thank you again for joining us. We really appreciate it.

It was great overall! The tea place is definitely a highlight of the tour. I would recommend the guide has a sign to identify at start of tour. It was a bit hard to find her.
